Mechatronics Engineer

Department: Engineering
Location: Oostburg, WI

A Mechatronics Engineer is a professional who integrates mechanical engineering, electronics, computer science, and control engineering to design and create intelligent systems and products. This individual will work on the development of automated systems, robotics, and machine vision focusing on the synergy between mechanical, electrical and engineering components.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Integrate robotic systems with our existing systems or newly designed systems. Design robotic process automation solutions in accordance with standard design principles and conventions.
  • Collaborates with developers, fellow engineers, project managers, sales, clients, and other stakeholders to understand the requirements and scope of the robotics project.
  • Drafts prints, sketches, or other documentation demonstrating proposed ideas and prototypes, modifying based on feedback and simulation results.
  • Designs and develops robotic prototypes.
  • Constructs, configures, tests, and debugs robots and robotic systems.
  • Designing and developing robotic systems based on project requirements and goals.
  • Creating robot control algorithms and programming robotic systems to perform specific tasks and with simulation results.
  • Experience with machine vision systems, setup and programming for all our vision applications.
  • Conducting feasibility, simulation studies and analyzing system requirements to determine the best robotic solutions.
  • Work within project timelines and constraints, communicating risks and potential problems to managers as soon as they arise.
  • Work with robot suppliers to provide detailed information about your application needs, including the tasks the robot will perform, required reach, payload capacity, desired speed, workspace constraints, and budget.
  • Robotics engineers: need to have strong problem-solving skills, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
  • Teamwork: Robotics engineers work as part of a team with other engineers, project managers, product developers and members of a robotics team. Working on a team requires several soft skills, including active listening and communication.

Qualifications:

  • Minimal 3 years of experience in robotics, factory automation and machine design.
  • Experience with End of arm tooling (EOAT) design and experience with vacuum, grippers, grasping, holding, lifting, and moving heavy materials.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of different control technologies, PLC, and robots operating system and communication protocols.
  • Proficiency in programming languages that are commonly used in robotics and in the machine design industry.
  • Support FAT-SAT with the customers.
  • Knowledge of ME and EE CAD (will be an advantage).
  • Knowledge of technical drawing and the ability to efficiently use technical documentation.
  • Experience with machine vision systems, illumination, CCD cameras, and optics (will be an advantage).
  • Interact closely with the design, engineering, manufacturing, quality and purchasing personnel.
  • Experience with robot safety:

Robotic (EN ISO) Safety within the European Union, US, and (OSHA) Safety.

Hours: Monday through Friday. 7:00 am – 3:30pm. Can be flexible. Based on department needs.
