Job Description:

As a Cost Accountant at Viking Masek, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial accuracy and efficiency of our packaging automation solutions. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of financial tasks, integral to supporting our innovative operations. Large equipment contracts are processed with deposit billings and payments, and profit is calculated with percentage of completion accounting. The Cost Accountant has the ability to influence change throughout our company by helping others understand opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. This position requires a high degree of accuracy and intuitive thought processes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

KRA # 1 – Inventory and Cost Management

• Monitor inventory levels and costs.
• Ensure month-end inventory accuracy.
• Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations.
• Implement cost control measures to optimize inventory management.
• Review labor rates.

KRA # 2 – Compliance and Documentation

• Complete account reconciliation for various balance sheet accounts responsible for.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial reports and records.
• Prepare documentation for audits and financial reviews.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

KRA # 3 – Financial analysis and Reporting

• Support month-end close activities related to inventory and costs including journal entries, project cost reviews, and reconciliation of any cost variances.
• Perform financial analysis to support decision-making.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
• Work cross-functionally to ensure project cost accuracy.
• Prepare detailed cost reports and financial analysis for any variances.
• Monitor and report on project budgets and expenditures.
• Provide feedback in weekly Projects on the Floor (POTF) meetings
• Provide recommendations based on financial data analysis.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 4-year degree Accounting, Finance, Economics, or BA
• 3+ years of cost accountant or relative experience

• Aptitude for continuous process improvement
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
• Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate
• Financial software experience
• Excel expert
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and technical background.
