Job Description:
Viking Masek is seeking a Regional Sales Manager (RSM) to lead sales efforts within a defined multi-state territory. This individual will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing the full sales cycle, and cultivating long-term relationships with clients. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and energetic self-starter who thrives in a technical sales environment.

- Identify prospective customers
- Qualify prospective opportunities
- Follow up on leads
- Maintain and grow customer base
- Provide accurate sales forecast
- Meet/exceed annual sales target
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
KRA #1 – Identify prospective customers.
- Find and utilize tools or resources to help identify potential Viking Masek customers. These can be, but are not limited to, trade show attendees, industry lists such as PMMI, LinkedIn, or Zoom Info.
- Analyze potential customer list to understand opportunities.
- Vet customer list and identify the proper contacts at each customer to work with.
KRA #2 – Qualify Prospective Opportunities
- Determine which customers have active needs and which have future needs.
- Qualify the opportunities in terms of ‘hot,’ ‘warm,’ and ‘cold’ to understand which projects the customers need sooner vs later (relative to other opportunities)
- Hot – customer has an active need requiring a quote.
- Warm – customer has a future need which may require a quote within 6 months.
- Cold – customer is curious about our offerings and a quote would not be needed for 6 months.
KRA #3 – Follow up on inbound leads.
- Prioritize list of leads as assigned on a ‘first in, first out’ basis with respect to exceptions for how likely the lead is to turn into a project/order. If the lead is closer to becoming an order (hot lead as opposed to cold), that lead should be prioritized.
- Execute on leads by contacting the customer in a timely manner.
- The RSM should contact the lead by phone first leaving a voicemail if not answered.
- A follow-up email should be sent requesting a meeting either by phone, video, or in person.
KRA #4 – Maintain and grow customer base
- Utilize Salesforce to maintain an organized list of customers within the region.
- Ensure that customer contacts and related information are accurately captured for account mapping.
- Meet with customers to understand their needs as well as market trends.
- Exercise resources such as support team personnel (applications, engineering, etc.) and marketing items (videos, other collateral etc.) to entice customers.
- Maintain regular contact with current and prospective customers to ensure that Viking Masek remains their preferred vendor.
KRA #5 – Provide an accurate sales forecast.
- Maintain regional pipeline using Salesforce.
- Segment pipeline by probability and time to close, automatically done by CRM.
- Analyze pipeline for leading indicators on potential sales cycles.
- Be prepared to communicate forecasted sales for the region to the RSM’s manager
KRA #6 – Meet/Exceed annual sales target amount.
- Drive individual projects through the sales process to win the order
- Ensure project success by engaging sales support resources
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Packaging Technology, and/or 5 years’ experience in a related field
- Proven experience in sales or account management, preferably in the packaging industry
- Strong knowledge of automated packaging equipment
- Ability to maintain a high quality of work while presented with competing tasks in a fast-paced environment
